Getting to know James Thrussell, our Account Executive


October 2019 With his hands-on approach to building relationships, James takes pride in working diligently to protect our clients’ best interests at all times. We recently caught up with James to explore how his friendly and personable nature helps him to ensure that our clients’ needs are continually being met.

What first attracted you to Turner Rawlinson as a company? The client is always the priority for Turner Rawlinson, and the people there and the whole team’s work ethic reflects this. Their membership of the Willis Towers Watson Networks also showed me that they were committed to delivering personable services with the additional benefits of being a part of a network with national reach.

As one of Turner Rawlinson’s Account Executives, what does your role involve? I advise clients on potential exposure and gaps in cover, as well as working diligently to ensure we are obtaining the most competitive terms at the best premiums for our clients. I also build relationships with our insurer partners and keep on top of ongoing claims to ensure they are paid as quickly as possible; another aspect of my role is marketing for new business.

What key skills do you bring to your role? With my friendly nature, I have a strong ability to communicate across many levels and another skill is the trust that I have built up, which has resulted in me gaining Trusted Advisor status with many clients.

Since joining Turner Rawlinson, what has been your biggest achievement? Growing my book to over £1m GWP through a mixture of organic growth and new business wins. I am also proud of our client retention rates, which are a testament to the long-term relationships that we build and nurture.

What do you enjoy most about your job role? Knowing that we have done a good job for our clients is really rewarding, and I also enjoy meeting potential future clients and winning new business.

How would you describe the culture at Turner Rawlinson? It’s a strong family-feel environment with a great team ethic.

How do you like to spend your spare time? In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and spending time with my two daughters. I also enjoy holidays, socialising with friends and watching Tottenham Hotspur FC.

What are you passionate about? Resolving problematic claims and achieving new business wins.

What can clients expect to see from Turner Rawlinson over the next year? Over the next year, we will be enhancing our profile and focusing on achieving continued growth. We will also be increasing our digital and social media presence, which we are looking forward to!
